For a fitter, healthier, and more inclusive community.

Inspiring personal growth through physical and mental challenges for a fitter, healthier, and more inclusive community.

Taking part in challenging activities changes lives and builds strength, confidence, and resilience; whoever you are and from wherever you start.

At Develop through Challenge, we work alongside a broad and diverse community to ensure as many people as possible can gain the life-long benefits of taking part in challenging activities - whether that’s through indoor climbing, affordable wellbeing facilities like our saunas, or partnerships creating new opportunities for people facing barriers to participation in physical activity and wellbeing.

Our base, Mile End Climbing Wall, is one of the UK’s longest-established climbing centres and the core space through which we deliver many of our projects. While climbing is at the heart of what we do, our wider purpose is to support people of all backgrounds and life stages to get active, feel better, and connect with others in inclusive, welcoming environments.

Where it starts: Tower Hamlets

Our home is Tower Hamlets, one of London’s youngest and most diverse boroughs that also faces some of the city’s greatest health inequalities.

“I love the atmosphere at Mile End... the trainers are fantastic, it’s just a really welcoming place for everyone. But what I’ve found especially important is how accessible everything is, from the layout of the gym to the support systems in place. The staff go out of their way to make sure that there’s support every step of the way, and it really makes a difference.”

"The Aim2Change event was an excellent opportunity to learn about the challenges and solutions to greater inclusivity in climbing. This well organised event brought different providers and communities together in the spirit of collaboration. This allowed me to take some concrete ideas back to Mountain Training."

"Being able to be introduced to the professionalism of the team while they still maintain their core passion for climbing has been incredibly eye opening for climbing in Zambia. The coaching, route setting skill and competition have been incredible and the gear donated will go a long way to developing the sport!”
Dan, Owner of Pa Mitengo Climbing in Zambia
